The Pedestal of Lady Liberty

The pedestal started with that star-shaped fort left over from the War of 1812 and then became kind of a grand, but somehow very simple building. By the time the pedestal was ready, Lady Liberty had been waiting in her boxes for almost a year. The eye is drawn up. It's not rustic looking by any stretch of the imagination. And I like that it's not only smooth stone, but there's also rough stone in there too.
