The Power of Interoceptive Awareness

We can look at these basic valence, what they're called valences, but pleasant or unpleasant, calm to agitated. We can start there with our kids and with ourselves and then grow awareness of thinking about rather than asking someone how you're feeling. Some believe it's the birthplace of emotional literacy because basic sensations later on may be experienced as emotions. The research is so interesting, but I think it just tells us as parents that we can really start to pay attention to our own internal sensations"
