A friend of mine passing through New York had met the Tibetan Lama there and who she had earlier met when she was in India. And so I wrote to him and his name was Partangtupu. Now my first Lama was in Seattle. That was Daejeong Rinpoche. And he was a real saint. But after he was kicked out of the country, I knew my PhD had been sunk. So I went back down to Berkeley, where my wife at that time had joined the university again and so on. I stayed with her.
