Sid fields was a great straight man back in the day, he worked with luke costello. He knew all these old burlesque bits, and he would put them in there, and then everybody had different aversions of it. Joe besser isn't naturally funny but they got the best out of him as an actor. I think that t v show introduced a whole generation to the concept of serealism. And again, leonard's first book, the movie comedy tems book.
