"I've had like a decade long debate with Adam Grant about this because he studies givers," she says. "If you want to be a sustainable giver and somebody who doesn't burn out, you have to think like, how can I be helpful to this person? And that did take me a while because I basically thought martyrdom was the superior approach for much of my life."
