Reengagement and Free Trade Agreements to Counter China's Economic Coercion

Congress is considering a bill that would allow the U.S. to increase duties on imports from foreign adversaries committing economic coercion. CSA: We don't think that that tool is going to be all that useful, but having it in the toolkit and showing that you're willing and ready to do something like that is understandableFrom a congressional perspective. There are active discussions underway with Taiwan about an actual trade agreement of some kind. And I think probably it's likely that that's going to be one of the first things whenever the US does get back into really negotiating traditional trade agreements.
