How Did Blake Make His Own Books?
Dener's work is as much a painting drawing as it is a declaration of the intent for what's inside the book. Blake treats words like images, so he took a copper plate, wrote backwards in mirror writing, using an acid resistant varnish. He would wash the surface of the copper plate with which melts the surface down. Later, after it had dried, he'd add water color washes and so forth, sometimes gold leaf. So long and complicated and pie handing in process.
