The Importance of Alternative Labor

iReporter: Uber and lift are disintermediate in the sense that you don't have to find exactly who you're going to hire. The drivers essentially are bidding against each other, because if they're not willing to work for the prevailing wage, they don't get a gig. As long as there's a never ending flow of people willing to drive, the wages are always going to be lower. And so as we move to this new gig economy, where more and more jobs are getting broken into tiny bits to be done by the cheapest available human or computer, the way forward is to be worth seeking out.
