The Velvet Underground's Mistake

The Velvet Underground recorded Hey Mr. Rain in 1968, but it was not a success. The album has since been praised as an early example of lo-fi recording. In June that year Andy Warhol was shot by radical feminist writer Valerie Solanus. Reed later talked about wanting to execute Solanus for what she'd done. Despite these problems though, the production on white light white heat has since been embraced by generations of garage bands.
