Is Tiff a Primary Sort of Geo Spacial Raster Container?

Tiff is kind of like a primary sort of geo spacial raster container. L a s is kind of that format, but there are other formats. We wanted the ability to have an abstract data api so that we could provide access to the content without necessarily imposing all the complexity of the organization on the user. And so we developed that primarily for doing point cloud data warehousing.
