Arnie, I don't think George ever wanted to go into electropolitics, but he certainly looked forward to a career of Republican appointments. He knew perfectly well that his chances of that happening would come to an end because of Agnew. Elliot Richardson never again held the high kind of political office in Republican administrations. That's exactly what did happen to Elliot Richardson. Think how fortunate Barney, Timmy, and I were to report to both George Bell and Elliot Richardson.
