The Pleasure Pain Balance
The same part of the brai that processes pleasure also processes pain. Pleasure and pain work like opposite sides of the balance through something called an opponent process mechanism. If i continue to press on the pleasure side again and again and again, then my brain actualy becomes weighted to the side of pain. And it can stay there long after i have stopped injesting or using that drug.
