In 1961, when the Congo joined the United Nations, there were 100. Almost half of them now were the newly decolonised states of Africa and Asia. Hamishol very often achieved results by allowing people to save face. One of my first political memories was the resignation of Sir Antony. It was a huge national humiliation for Britain.
