Sho Toku - A New Branch for Japanese History

Maji period historians tended to accept a lot of the legendary stories that had been absorbed into the shoto kumitos at face value. It wasn't really until the 19 90 is that a serious turn towards investigating the realities of sho toku, independent from the legends took place. This is a pretty new branch for the field of japanese history. The prince remains something of a national symbol and has appeared on ten thousand, five thousand, one thousand and 100 yen notes.
