The History of Jiu-Jitsu

In 1879, former US president Ulysses Grant was visiting Japan. Some people say that Grant during the demonstration asked lots of questions and may have even planted the idea that it would be great to bring jiu-jitsu to the United States. This kind of support from Westerners went a long way to make the case for the validity of jiu- Jitsu. A few days after the jiu-Jitsu demonstration for Grant, Kano's teacher Fukuda collapsed and died at either the age of 51 or 52 in any case relatively young.
