The Importance of Social Security Payments

Senator William Proxmire said that Social Security benefits will be paid. The United States government, you know, has the power to print money,. And we will exercise that power to make sure that every dime that was promised to Social Security recipients will bepaid. Now of course, that is a startling admission to be made by a United States Senator. But he then at least had the foresight and the guts to admit that payments may be worthless.
