The Importance of a Safe Space for Our Kids
When we're dealing with dysregulated young people or prickly teenagers, we should keep in mind the distinction between misbehavior and response. A response is inherently a contextual thing that you did something in response to something else. And I think if no matter what boys do, again, if they're just, you know, a seven year old who had a really bad soccer practice, or if they're a teenager who has been trying drugs. If we set aside the idea of misbehavior and think of it as response, that allows us to cast our gaze on what was around that boy when he did what he did.
