The Effects of Lockdown on Children's Language
I've actually been involved in a study recently that was led by researchers at the University of Oslo so this is a really big study that's taken I think it's over about 10 different countries and thousands of different researchers. We collected questionnaires from families looking at the kinds of activities they got involved with during lockdown looked at their children's vocabulary. Children who had lots of opportunity to read lots with their parents who engage more with their parents have better language skills than we would have expected compared to those who played more computer games or did more loan activities. Some parents just didn't have the capacity to be spending the day with their children because they were in hospitals or they were busy caring for other people
