The Basil Ganglia and Orbit Frontal Cortex

The ventral striatum is part of this thing called the basil ganglia. The basi ganglia has sort of two circuits within it. One circuit is involved in getting us to do things like, i'm going to get up to morrow and im going to run five miles first thing in the morning. Other one is involved in planning and thinking across different time scales. So that's lateral pre frontal cortex. And then the fourth one isinvolved in emotionality, where we sit emotionally atpre n compared to where we think we will be emotionally when we reach some particular goal. That's orbit of frontal cortex.
