The Bank of England is finding it so difficult to bring down inflation. A large percentage of people in the UK own their own homes outright well over 30 percent and an awful lot of people are also rented. In the US most people are on a permanent fixed term mortgage rate. They settle their interest rate for 30 years or the duration of their mortgage. There are endless conversations about doing this in the UK offering these very long term mortgages but interestingly there's very little appetite for it among UK mortgage holders.
