The Two Powers of Judaism

During the second temple period, speculation abounded over these two powers passages. Philo of Alexandria described the word of God or the Logos as dutaras theos,. The figure of Lady Wisdom in the book of Proverbs was also viewed by some second temple writers as a sort of divine hypostasis of Yahweh. While the two powers doctrine demonstrates pre-Christian Jews could conceive of a God head, there is no evidence for a cult of God's word or wisdom. Worship is always directed to the Heavenly Father.
