Fermi's Theory of Physics
Fermi saw intuitively that our theory was a hot podge. He had no really clear physical picture and also no consistent mathematics. It was essentially an attempt to find a recipe for cooking a soup without knowing what you were putting in. So anyway, I came back to Cornell and told the students, unfortunately, the theory is no good. You better find another line of work.
