The Noble Lies of Aristotle
Aristotle talks about the noble lie. A people needs to believe something, but it doesn't necessarily have to be true. "If you're very poor or if you're over a certain age in the United States, it is absolutely positively, completely socialist," he says. He thinks that maybe libertarian type or fiscal conservative could have benefited from that sort of a noble lie in like, let's say, 86 and 1986.
