This is the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington, near York. Every single one of the Halifax's were sold for scrap after the war. This one has been put together from parts, from bits of other Halifax's and it's a magnificent beast. It's not as big as the Lancaster. Why do you want to give the Halifax some of the glory? Well the Lancaster was developed after the Halifax and it can fly higher and longer and carry a big bomb load so therefore it was in that way a more useful aircraft I suppose. For me when I was growing up these were airfields that had Halifax's not Lancaster's. So I felt that particular affinity because people from Yorkshire are like
