The Role of Salicylic Acid in the Immune Response in Plants
Salicylic acid may be a signal that translicates from the infection site to other areas of the plant. This is very similar to how neutrophils kill bacteria in our bodies. There's also evidence that this functions as a hormone in regulating processes such as seed germination, vegetative growth and photosynthesis. The immune response despite being a modular system is there's a lot of overlap.
