The Language of the Prophets

Most of what we take to be a scatological language is securely situated by him within the lifetimes of some of his hearers. Much of it has to do with the historical events and much of it is using the language of the prophets in exactly the way the prophets did. The Gahanna is a place where body and soul can be destroyed, where fire and worms to destroy corpses. It's an image of historical catastrophe. But that's not all the language you have, you know, obviously in Christ's teachings as well there there's a language of not getting into the party itself.
