I knew that there was a lot of emotional abuse, but I didn't know there was physical abuse. My relationship with my father suffered a lot. He felt his masculinity being challenged. patriarchy, especially in South Asia or in patriarchal countries are very different. And I think there is this veneer of progressiveness that we must keep.
