Mao once told his personal physician, I wash myself in the bodies of my women. He also knowingly infected them with venereal diseases. It's pretty wild stuff. Mao is quite distinct. What he thinks matters. How he personally reacts matters. The great leap forward was very much his vision and Peng Duhai had challenged his vision. And what would Mao's reaction be?
