Is There a Difference Between Vision and Smell?

i think the danger is by focusing on one system as the model system, we're over emphasizing certain features of a system and generalized from them. A lot about vision is actualy about motion, what happens o the peripherys, not just focus. There's much more to what we use vision for. And smell is a good model system given that it seems to define some of these representative features of the visual system.
