The Dutch Golden Age
Throughout the 1500s, into the 1600s, you have the 80 years war being fought between the Netherlands and Spain. All this is finally settled, more or less, by 1648 with the peace of Westphalia. This is the backdrop for what is known as the Dutch Golden Age. And a number of factors, one has to do with land and the relationship to land.
