The Future of Environmental Archaeology in Rome
There's still plenty of work to be done in Rome. I see a huge opportunity in using environmental history to help to teach ourselves about human environment relationships over the long term. Our mitigation strategies today are not going to meet the challenges of tomorrow. So we can use environmental history and specific case studies like Rome to look at, you know, how do these dynamics play out over time? We can look at a really complex environmental system and then see how various actions or responses or a lack of action, what implications this has. What is a sustainable urban setting? These are the kinds of questions that we really need to be answering now so that we can start to live more sustainably in the future
