CNN's John Sutter talks with the owner of Virginia's Monticello. He says Thomas Jefferson visited Europe and fell in love with Cabernet or Lo, Chardonnay. In 1807, he brought 287 vines of Vitus Phinephora to his vineyard at Monticello; they didn't work. The area is one of the oldest wine-growing areas in the New World but not until the 1980s did it take off.
