The Supreme Court wasn't against the death penalty per se, but rather how it was being carried out. So for example, this is how Charles Manson ends up coming up for parole every few years in California with a swastika carved into his forehead. Donald Trump comes out and says, we're going to hold all kinds of drug dealers to this standard. Right off the bat, you know that there's going to be a problem with the Supreme Court and the United States Constitution because the court has already declared that that sort of thing isn't going to happen.
