Is There a Wide Variability in the Application of Emergency Medicine?

Everybody's medical knowledge was roughly the same coming out of medical school. But when you start seeing patients, there's a wide variability in terms of how much responsibility and patient care you're given. Very few fourth year medical students have a great deal of responsibility on their own. Most of the time you're working under very close supervision.
