Gibbons knew that holmes had spent most of the previous ten years outright lying to investors and being deliberately tight lipped. When she did try to explain what therenos did, as the new yorker put it, comically vague. Holmes owned half of the company, making her worth four and a half billion dollars. She wanted to be seen as the next steve jobbs, a female visionary that was about to change the world. Even though the technology still didn't work, holmes wanted to launch it to the world.
