We now believe perhaps 85% of the matter in the universe is dark matter. It doesn't interact with light, so we literally don't see it. We know it's there because of its gravitational influences but haven't seen other effects. There are billions of more dark matter particles going through us all the time. But we don't see them and they don't feel or smell our senses.
