Using Protest and Demonstration in English Grammar

A march is a form of public protest or demonstration, where people walk together to highlight their cause. Both protest and demonstration have verb forms as well. If an event causes a protest, we can use the verbs spark and trigger. A riot is a violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd. Most protests are peaceful or non-violent - this means they cause no damage to people or property. Last year, angry protests erupted across the USA in response to police brutality.
