Is There a Hell of Fire and Torment?
The Old Testament does not have a concept of hell as a place of eternal torment. Jesus and Paul were apocalyptic Jews who believed that the end of history is coming soon. In Jewish thinking, your spirit is more like what we would think of as your breath,. That's your spirit but you have it as long as you have your breath.
