People and Love Do Not Have to Be Contradictory in Terms

We can have so many valuable resources within a person, side by side with aspects that cause other people so much pain. We only become afraid of taking in or resourcing when doing so led us to pain before. So it's tempting to not want to resource anything from anyone, cause we could lose it. Using someone and loving someone also does not have to be a contradiction in terms.
