On average, it takes about seven years to get a diagnosis of a dissociative identity disorder. It's very important that you also find an experienced therapist and you be persistent. If the therapist does not seem to understand or listen to you, find a new one. All therapists are different. They come from different backgrounds. They have different modalities. And you need to click with that person,. You got to find somebody that can really move and help heal you.
