The amount of interest that is owed on all the debt the US government has accrued over the last many decades and now currently stands at $766 billion a year in interest payments alone. When you compare that to other unfunded liabilities, like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and the military budget, it is right behind the military budget,.
