Carnap was in some classes from Husserl. He's kind of doing phenomenology, saying let's examine our experiences and see how these units like the self are put together on the basis of momentary experiences. And then he thinks like if we're going to talk about your beliefs, I might have direct access to my own emotional states but I don't have them based on yours. So that's a different kind of synthesis,. right? We've got the phenomenal that is we start with my own experiences and we build the physical out of that.
