I think that the community exists in so far as we see it from afar. So it's like we have to treat the community as sacred, or there's no community. The very existence of the community is dependent on it being seen in a certain way. We all treat human well-being as sacred, I, the effective altruists and you, the non-effective altruists. But I'm really fulfilling the sacredness of that thing because I express a much deeper care for it.
