Even a poor person living in a country like Australia has an excess of capacity to just survive, except for people who are destitute and with some sort of psychiatric disorder. Most people have an excess of ability to survive. It is pretty much all surrogate activities - status chasing, wealth chasing, it's entertaining ourselves. And so I don't know, am I ranting too much?
