The Language Dissonance Between Me and My Family
I can speak Chinese fairly fluently but I'm definitely way more comfortable speaking English. Depending on the person I marry like we're most likely going to raise our kids speaking predominantly English. And therefore this kid will definitely lose the ability and connection to their own heritage in the language aspect of things. Like they won't be able to speak the language of their culture. That's one of the motivations of why I want to send them to live within the culture so that they pick up the language.
