The shekina of away, the glory of god, had left the temple. Why? Because of our stupidity in sin and corruption. augustine who first used the phrase that i used at the beginning of this sermon. He said, all that's left after the mob has broken up is miseria et misere cordia, misery and mercy. That's where the temple was meant to be when the glory ofgod dwells there.
