Eastern airlines flight nine 80 departed from president straser international airport at five 57 p m that evening. The outside conditions made it harder for the pilots to see, as it was dark and cloudy outside. Right after they passed the cone intersection, the flight started moving off course, 26 degrees to the right of the airway. It seemed like they might have been trying to avoid bad weather in the area.
