The Role of Fluid Dynamics in the Progression of Wildfires

In President Biden's Science Council, I've had the privilege to co-chair a group thinking about how we can use science and technology to better address wildfires. Fluid dynamics is one of the most important drivers of the progression of a wildfire. It requires new types of data on the wind near the ground to complement upper air data. But also what we can do in simulating different locations is to help vulnerable communities prepare and advance for wildfires.
