Inflation and the American People
I think he kind of gets the causation backwards, and he's got a point if you look at it from a different angle. The American people, particularly with the one two punch of the energy crisis were not well pleased by inflation. I suspect that one of the reasons why crime is such a salient issue going into the home stretch is that crime is an interesting way to provide a more visible incarnation of that feeling of fear. And which I don't condone, but I think it's just something people do in politics right away or wrongly.
