Our working memory is very limited. We have seven digits when we first see them for the first time. And if you haven't committed really basic knowledge to long-term memory, then you really struggle to solve problems. You just can't be a great problem solver unless you have some domain-specific knowledge. So that's why it's important, you know, to commit basic facts and knowledge tolong-term memory.
